Just stone’s throw away from Baclayon Church, one of the structures damaged by the quake of 2013, a new foundation is being laid down.
Welcome Kasing Sining, a community theater troupe of veteran and first time actors from Cecilio Putong National High School, Bohol Island State University, Holy Name University, and other volunteers. Their initial offering is an amalgam of two plays of the same title, Teatro Porvenir, by Palanca Award winners Edward Perez and Tim Dacanay.
Teatro Porvenir is based on the life of Andres Bonifacio, from his humble Rizal inspired beginnings in theater to the founding of the Katipunan.
The group is Directed by Baclayon native and award winning Lutgardo, “Gardy” Labad, gracing this theater company with his years of experience in both theater and film.
Another powerhouse lending his talents to the group is Dancer-Choreographer and Cultural Bearer, Raymund “Rama” Marcaida, teaching the Pangalay, an indegionous dance from the Sulu Archipelago, to the cast.
Teatro Porvenir will run on all the weekends of February 2015 at 7pm with it’s premiere on Jan 31, 2015 at the Buwangan in Baclayon Bohol.
